What is CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2026 — Phase II Update, Selected List & Complete Guide?

The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to close the digital gap between students who can afford a laptop and those who cannot. A laptop today is not optional for university life — online lectures, LMS portals, research submissions, and digital assignments all require one. Rather than expecting every family to manage that cost, the Punjab government distributes high-performance laptops directly to merit-qualified students at no charge.

The program is entirely merit-based and domicile-based. No payment is involved at any stage. If anyone contacts you claiming they can secure a laptop for a fee, that is a scam. The official government portal at cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk is the only legitimate channel.

Important: Applicants must ensure their CNIC is not expired before applying. Verify your CNIC status at nadra.gov.pk before submitting your application.

Registration Process

How to Apply Online – Step by Step

The entire process is online. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the official portal: https://cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk
  2. Click Register and create your account using your CNIC, mobile number, and email
  3. Log in with your credentials
  4. Fill in your personal, academic, and contact details carefully
  5. Upload scanned copies of your required documents
  6. Double-check everything before submitting
  7. Save your tracking/application number — you'll need this to check your status later

Important: If your email address is wrong, don't try to fix it yourself. Visit your focal person at your college or university and ask them to correct it in the system.

Documents You'll Need

Get these ready before you start your application to avoid last-minute scrambling:

  • CNIC or B-Form (for identity verification)
  • Punjab Domicile Certificate
  • Matric and Intermediate result/transcript
  • Admission letter or fee challan (proof of current enrollment)

Scan everything clearly. Blurry or cropped documents can cause your application to get flagged or rejected during verification.

These marks refer to your FSc or intermediate board result. If your university follows a semester system, the equivalent minimum is 2.5 CGPA for BS programs. For MBBS and BDS the equivalent is 3.5 CGPA. For DVM the equivalent is 3.0 CGPA. Students who appeared in their intermediate exams but results are not yet officially issued can still apply using their provisional result card or roll number slip. However, their final verification will be done after the official result is available. If you scored below the required percentage in your first attempt but passed with higher marks in improvement exams, the improved marks are accepted. Submit the improved result card as your document.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

A few practical tips that could save you from disqualification:

  • Apply before April 15, 2026. The countdown is real — 13 days left as of today.
  • Make sure your institution has submitted verified data to HED Punjab. Even a correct application can get stuck if your university hasn't done their part.
  • Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is included in the program. If you study there, you're eligible.
  • All Federal Chartered Universities are also included. Check the official list on the portal to confirm your institution.
  • Students who previously received a laptop under any provincial or federal scheme cannot apply.

What Happens After You Applied — Phase II Students

This is the most important section for anyone who already submitted an application.

After the application deadline passed, the Higher Education Department began the verification process. This involves cross-checking your academic records, CNIC, domicile, and enrollment status against data submitted by your institution. This is why it is critical that your university or college submitted verified student data to HED Punjab — if they have not, even a correct application can be delayed or disqualified.

Once verification is complete for your institution, your name either appears on the merit list or does not. You will receive an email on the address you registered with. You can also log back into cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk and check your application status using your tracking number.

If you are selected, your institution will inform you about the distribution ceremony date and venue. You will receive a brand-new laptop with an official warranty. No additional steps, no fees, no agents.

If you are not selected in Phase II, a future phase may still offer an opportunity. Stay updated through the official portal.

How the Application Process Worked

The process was fully online. No physical form submission was required at any stage.

Students visited cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk and clicked Register. They created an account using their CNIC, mobile number, and email address. After logging in they filled in personal details, academic information, and contact data, then uploaded all required documents. After submitting, the system generated a tracking number. Students saved this number to check their application status later.

One important point — if the email address entered during registration was wrong, students could not fix it through the portal. They had to visit their institution's focal person and request a correction in the HED system. Getting this wrong meant missing the selection notification email.

Laptop Specifications

The laptops distributed under this scheme are not basic study machines. The full specification is Intel Core i7 13th Generation processor, SSD storage for fast boot and file access, and high-speed RAM for smooth multitasking.

These specifications comfortably handle university LMS portals, recorded lecture playback, coding environments like VS Code and Android Studio, design software, research tools, online freelancing platforms, and everything else a university student needs for academic and professional work.

Important Things Every Applicant Needs to Know

Your institution must submit verified data to HED Punjab. Even if your application is correct and complete, it cannot be processed if your university or college has not submitted their student data to the Higher Education Department. If you are unsure, contact your registrar or admissions office and confirm this has been done.

The scheme is completely free. There is no registration fee, processing fee, or any other charge at any point. Anyone asking for money to help you get a laptop under this scheme is running a scam. Report it and ignore them.

AIOU and federal chartered universities are included. If you study at Allama Iqbal Open University or any federally chartered university, check the official institution list on the portal to confirm your university is listed.

Keep your login credentials safe. You will need your CNIC and password to log back in and check your Phase II result when it is announced.

If your CNIC was expired during application, your application may be flagged. Verify and renew at nadra.gov.pk as soon as possible and contact HED support if needed.
