What is Punjab Launches Free Deceased Transportation Service – A Dignified Initiative by Maryam Nawaz?

The newly launched service provides free transportation of deceased individuals from government hospitals to their homes. It has been introduced to eliminate the exploitation often faced by families who are charged high fees by private ambulance services.

In the first phase, the service is operational in:

  • Lahore
  • Rawalpindi
  • Multan

Families can access this service simply by dialing 1122, making it easily available across major cities.

Important: Applicants must ensure their CNIC is not expired before applying. Verify your CNIC status at nadra.gov.pk before submitting your application.

How the Service Works

The initiative is being managed by Rescue 1122, ensuring professional handling and quick response.

Key Features:

Completely free of cost

  • Available 24/7
  • Trained and uniformed drivers
  • Dedicated desks in government hospitals
  • Smart rescue dispatch system
  • Option to transport bodies to morgues if required

This ensures a respectful and smooth process for families during emotional distress.

Future Expansion Plan

The Punjab government plans to expand this service across all districts and tehsils by June, with:

  • A dedicated ambulance in every tehsil
  • Coverage across rural and urban areas
  • Stronger public service infrastructure

This expansion will make the service accessible to millions across Punjab.

Message from the Chief Minister

Speaking at the launch event, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that:

“In the moment of grief of losing a loved one, we are with you and will remain with you.”

She also instructed rescue staff to never accept any payment, even if offered by families.

Why This Initiative Matters

  • Reduces financial burden on families
  • Prevents exploitation by private transporters
  • Ensures dignity and respect for the deceased
  • Strengthens public trust in government services
